Learn about setting service user permissions to access the data in Bob
Bob's Public API permissions follow the same logic as the permissions you grant other users on the Bob platform.
Bob's fields are organized within categories, which are the primary units for assigning permissions. Permissions are always assigned to categories rather than individual fields, and, as a result, permission is granted to all the fields that reside in that category.
Setting permissions
To access the API, a Bob Admin must:
- Define an API Service Users.
- Create a permission group for the API to perform the actions.
- Grant the relevant permissions for the API to perform the actions.
Notes:
- Required permissions : explore 'Required permissions' section in each module of the BOB API to learn more about the permissions required to access different data types.
- Employee data fields: To learn how to find the right permission, what happens when you move permissions between categories, and how to access sensitive employee fields, see Categories and permissions.
