Retirement Partners API: now available for Marketplace partners

Approved retirement providers can now connect to Bob US Payroll through a partner API and build Marketplace apps that calculate 401(k) contributions from paycheck data and write deductions back to Bob.

Note: This API is for approved HiBob Marketplace partners with Developer Portal access and OAuth credentials. It is not for customers to call with Service users.

What’s new

This release adds a partner-facing Retirement Partners API on top of Bob US Payroll.

With this API, approved partners can:

  • Verify connectivity during onboarding and ongoing health checks
  • Discover US employers, employer pay codes, deduction plans, and employee rosters
  • Discover pay cycles (including historical cycles for initial sync)
  • Fetch employee census data and paychecks for a completed pay cycle
  • Read, create, and update employee deductions (changes apply from the next pay cycle)
  • Receive a payroll.paycycle.paid webhook when a pay cycle is paid and ready to process

Value

  • Lets retirement partners run contribution calculations in their own systems, then push 401(k) deductions back to Bob
  • Gives customers a standard Marketplace path
  • Uses a notify-then-pull model: Bob notifies you when a cycle is paid; you fetch only the data you need

How does this affect you

  • This is an additive API. No action is required unless you are building or updating a retirement Marketplace integration.
  • If you are a HiBob customer whose retirement provider is not connected to Bob, ask them to contact HiBob at hibob.com/partner and select Become a Partner > Tech Partner.
